I know there are major problems with the system. Friends of residents in various facilities not only grieve for their friends, but are outraged that this society tolerates these abuses and crimes. They are outraged that society, by doing nothing, in effect condones them. The ongoing abuse of the elderly residents of nursing homes has long been documented. Congressional hearings have been held regularly decade after decade with no reform of the industry.
