Many companies due to drug abuse in the workplace establish drug testing. They use DOT tests for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines and phencyclidine. Testing for alcohol is a bit more difficult because alcohol leaves the blood stream fairly quickly. Other companies use training and education of drug abuse in the workplace in order to make the employees and supervisors aware of the company’s drug abuse policies and procedures. They also may require employee education and awareness of drug abuse in the workplace along with employee assistance for providing help to anyone with a drug abuse problem.
